Overview
The Introduction to TIG welding course is aimed at the DIY enthusiast wanting to build some skills and knowledge to set up and use the TIG welding process at home. Intro to TIG is a non-accredited welding course using Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) process, commonly known as TIG. This course introduces the GTAW process, covering the principles, setup of equipment, equipment and consumable requirements, and techniques to weld Steel, Stainless Steel, and Aluminium. This course is for all those who are DIY enthusiasts and tinkering with car restorations, modifications, boat repairs, and more.
Optional student project will be to produce a stainless steel tankard they can take home.

Requirements
Applicants must be at least 16 years of age to enrol.
Applicants must supply own:
- Safety boots
- Appropriate heat-resistant clothing for workshop activities (not loose clothing as this is an OH&S hazard)
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) will be required depending on units of study, for example, earplugs or earmuffs are required when using machinery.
Assessment
This course is not assessed.
