Overview
This qualification focuses on the essential skills you need to be successful in this exciting growth industry. This course is a perfect blend of creativity, theoretical elements, technical knowledge and practical skills required within the interior design industry. You will work with real-life client briefs and engage directly with industry to develop your concepts into fully resolved solutions for your client. Successful completion of this course offers you a pathway and one year’s credit into the Diploma of Interior Design.
NOTE: In order to enrol in the third stage - Interior Decoration Studio, students must have completed stage 1 & 2 prior to enrolling. This will enable people to obtain the full qualification in certificate IV Interior Decoration.
Stage 1 – Interior Decoration Fundamentals
Do you have a Passion for Interior Design? This course is designed for individuals eager to build foundational knowledge and skills in Interior Decoration. Participants will explore key areas such as colour theory, conceptual drawing, and the selection of furniture, materials, and accessories for client presentations. You will gain hands-on experience equipping you with the practical skills needed to bring your creative visions to life. This introductory stage provides a valuable opportunity to gauge interest in the field and assess the potential for further study and career development in Interior Decoration.
Stage 2 – Interior Design Technologies
Want to stay up to date with Digital technologies in the Interior world? This course is designed for individuals keen to develop digital skills in Interior Design. Participants will delve into essential areas such as 2D and 3D digital concepts using Revit, SketchUp, and Enscape. Additionally, you’ll learn techniques for photographing interior spaces and creating impactful designs and branding with Adobe Creative Cloud. This introductory stage offers a valuable opportunity to explore your interest in the field and consider pathways for further study and career development in Interior Design.
Stage 3 – Interior Design Studio
This course is designed for individuals enthusiastic about pursuing a career in Interior Decoration. You’ll gain a comprehensive understanding of ethical and compliance requirements, advise customers on current trends, and learn the technical skills needed for measuring and calculating window coverings. By grasping these areas, you’ll open the door to a range of employment opportunities in the field.

Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this course however we recommend that you have completed Year 10 as a minimum, or that you enrol as a mature-aged student. A pre-training interview is required prior to entry into the course.
You will be required to obtain your Construction Induction Card (White Card), which will be through an external source.

Field Placement
There are no field placements associated with this course, students receive extensive and direct industry engagement during the course. All students have the opportunity to exhibit their work at various points throughout the year. All students participate in a major exhibition in November each year. This is an excellent opportunity to start or extend your exhibition practice for your portfolio.
Assessment
The assessments will enable students to demonstrate the underpinning knowledge, skills and attributes required to meet the specific unit outcomes. A range of assessment strategies will be utilised, including practical assessments, theoretical assessments such as written tasks and tests, as well as displaying your technical abilities through project based assessments.

Where applicants can show evidence of prior qualifications or experience in a related field, there may be an opportunity to apply for recognition to be given for previous study, knowledge, and/or skills resulting from work or life experience relevant to this qualification. To apply for course credit you will be required to provide the following documentation with your enrolment form: certificates, transcripts, qualifications of previous related study, examples of work completed, or a portfolio of work.
