Overview
This course provides the training component of a Plumbing apprenticeship in the domestic and commercial sectors of the plumbing trade. A large range of elective units suits all streams of plumbing, from water supply, drainage, fire protection, stack work, roofing and gas! Studying with Wodonga TAFE helps ensure your apprentices learn the skills they need to work effectively in your business.
As part of your Plumbing course with Wodonga TAFE you will studying in our newly built Trades Training Centre! This state-of-the-art building has been specifically designed to provide you with the best learning experience possible. The building is fitted out with modern technology, including interactive classrooms, mobile learning equipment & brand-new industry standard tools & equipment.
All apprentices at completion of their training will sit an externally accessed VBA registration exam at the Wodonga TAFE site.
You must be employed under an Australian Apprenticeship Agreement to undertake this course.

Training can start at any time to align apprentices up to our standard delivery schedule.
Duration
Part-time: 3 years
Schedule
Study type A: 10 x 4 Day block release (Monday - Thursday)
Study type B: 40 x 1 day release (Mondays, If available). February – November.
Time: 8am-4.30pm
Yearly training plans will be made available on the day of sign up.
Requirements
You must be a signed-up as an apprentice through Apprentice Connect Australia Provider (ACAP).
We recommend that you complete Year 10 maths and science.
We recommend that you have basic language and literacy skills.
You must be employed in the industry and undertaking an apprenticeship OR you must have significant experience in the industry without a formal qualification to gain recognition for prior learning assessments.
Assessment
The assessments will enable students to demonstrate the underpinning knowledge, skills and attributes required to meet the course and employer outcomes. A range of assessment strategies to meet different student’s needs will be selected, involving on-campus and workplace assessment.
The skills and knowledge you develop from your training may be assessed using a combination of the following methods:
-Observation at work
-Observation in simulated environment (e.g. at TAFE)
-Project/assignment/activity
-Practical assessment
-Interview/oral questioning
-Portfolio of your work
-Third party (workplace) report
Your teachers will provide you with more information on specific requirements at the start of each unit and they will assist with any support you may need.
