Overview
Gain a wide range of skills and knowledge required for working within the horticultural industry. This qualification could lead you to undertake work as a parks and gardens worker at local councils, resorts, retirement centres or as a wholesale or retail nursery assistant. Or you could even become self-employed!
You will learn about all things plants including how to; install irrigation systems, implement plant nutrition programs, implement grassed area maintenance, maintain nursery plants and prepare specialised plants.

- Traineeship – Teaching and assessment will be required to be conducted as part of a traineeship

Requirements
Basic literacy and numeracy skills are required. You need to wear suitable clothing and footwear, for example, safety boots, broad-brimmed hat, collared shirt. Some other personal protective equipment will be required depending on units of study, for example, earplugs or earmuffs are required when using machinery.
Assessment
This qualification is competency based. The assessments will enable students to demonstrate the underpinning knowledge, skills and attributes required to meet the course outcomes. You’ll be required to undertake projects, tests, written assignments and be able to demonstrate your practical skills.
