Overview
This course provides the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty. These skills are in line with the first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies. This unit applies to all workers who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.
This course is also available as ‘refresher’ training for people already holding a current First Aid certificate (please see 'Requirements' tab for additional information).

Requirements
As part of the First Aid course you ARE required to complete online pre-learning activities at least 24 hours prior to your class date. These activities are completed off-campus via Wodonga TAFE Online, and students should allow 8 to 10 hours in total to complete the required readings and assessments. Evidence of completion MUST be provided on the first day of on-campus training. Students will need to provide a current email address on enrolment to receive their Wodonga TAFE Online login instructions. Students wishing to undertake a refresher course will ALSO be required to complete the pre-learning activities. A copy of a current HLTAID011 first aid certificate/competency card (or equivalent) is required. Wodonga TAFE will recognise this qualification as 'current' if the expiry date is NOT greater than six (6) weeks of the proposed on-campus training date. The 'original documents' MUST be sighted by the Assessor.
Assessment
Skills must be demonstrated working individually in an environment that provides realistic in-depth, industry-validated scenarios and simulations to assess candidates’ skills and knowledge.
Please Note: It is a requirement of this course that practical demonstration of CPR must be performed on an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor, and an infant resuscitation manikin placed on a firm surface.
