So what exactly is CLM?

Conservation and Land Management (CLM) is self-explanatory right? It’s about the conservation of land? Well, the first of our helpful three part guide is here to give you a better understanding of CLM. This first part will give you the basics of the industry, and give you more knowledge on the variety of work completed by those in the industry.

So what exactly is CLM?

Conservation and Land Management is the industry that deals with the preservation of natural environments, the rehabilitation and overall management of land that has degraded due to human activities. CLM integrates the conservation of land, flora and fauna, often playing an important role in the operating of national parks, council reserves, Indigenous protected areas and other Commonwealth owned lands as well as involvement in Landcare works on private land.

However, CLM doesn’t just focus on rehabilitation of these important ecological areas. The skills learnt during your career are important to the development of long-term management strategies for national park land, assisting in the education and the development of policies and guidelines aimed at maintain and enhancing fisheries and farms, recommending best practice for the sustainable use.
