Wodonga TAFE’s Interior Decoration students were invited by Metricon Homes to tour Metricon’s new Killara display homes earlier this week.
Students who are completing the Certificate IV in Interior Decoration were able to spend time with the Metricon Interior Design team, exploring the new Metricon display homes in the Riverside Estate at 21-23 Woodbridge Street, Killara.
Ms Tania Tonks, Regional North Manager for Metricon Homes, said they were delighted to offer this opportunity to regional students. “We are looking forward to showcasing our design work, and sharing the expertise of Metricon Senior Interior Designer, Jacinta Evans, at the tour.”
“The students will be able to hear first-hand from an experienced professional about their work in the design industry, and about current design trends and how they are transferred across to the quality housing market”, said Ms Tonks. “Our qualified interior designers are just one component of the team that works closely with our customers to guide them through the selection process as part of their build experience with Metricon.”
Interior Design & Decoration teacher at Wodonga TAFE, Ms Belinda Papas, said the students were very excited to be able to hear directly from professionals in their chosen field. “This is a wonderful opportunity for students who are starting out on their design journey, to engage with industry and experience first-hand a facet of design as it occurs in the building industry.”
“The building industry is an exciting growth industry, with many openings for successful careers in Interior Decoration and Design”, continued Ms Papas.
Successful completion of the nationally accredited and recognised Certificate IV in Interior Decoration offers students a pathway and one year’s direct credit into the Diploma of Interior Design and Decoration.
