Community Garden Launch
Wednesday, 6 November 2024
If you have been keeping up to date with our sustainability efforts, you would know that our McKoy St Community Garden has been at the forefront of multiple projects throughout 2024. It was with great pleasure to finally launch our community garden amongst Wodonga TAFE OFF Group members, staff, students and longstanding partners of our institute Albury Wodonga Regional FoodShare.
The creation of our Community Garden has been a learning experience for all, and is proven to teach us more as we progress into the maintenance and harvesting season. We are beyond excited to keep you updated as we move forward with plans to include an Outdoor Learning Environment for cooking classes and other educative activities, and a Wellness area that will include inviting spaces to connect with nature. If you're near our campus on McKoy St we urge you to visit and experience the Community Garden for yourself.
There has been so much input from all stakeholders of our institute, ranging from our Agriculture & Horticulture students to Access Ed Students who created our Scarecrow named "Hairy McScary" (which was created by upcycling reusable material).
We would like to thank the Wodonga TAFE OFF Group, involved students, teachers, and support services, as well as Sue and other representatives from Albury Wodonga Regional FoodShare who attended the launch and gave meaningful insight into the potential of our Community Garden.
Albury Wodonga Regional FoodShare have been instrumental in the success of our Community Garden from start to finish and we can't wait to work further in helping those in need. We look forward to seeing our efforts transpire across many aspects of our institute, including our Education First Youth Foyer, Commercial Cookery Kitchen, and Agriculture & Horticulture cohort.
