Protected industrial action - 26 November 2024
Wednesday, 20 November 2024
The Australian Education Union (AEU) has extended their industrial action to include a 24 hour stop work from 6am on Tuesday 26 November 2024. This follows the AEU vote in April in favour of taking protected industrial action (PIA) as part of state-wide bargaining for a new industrial agreement for TAFE teachers.
Wodonga TAFE is doing all it can to reduce the impact of the stop work on students, which may include combining classes, varying class times, and scheduling alternative training. However, where alternative learning options with appropriate supervision cannot be arranged, classes may be cancelled.
Every effort is being made to ensure affected students are able to catch up on core course requirements that may be missed due to the industrial action.
The AEU has not yet confirmed further industrial action. We are working to minimise any disruption and if affected, will provide further details in advance of this date.
Wodonga TAFE recognises the right of a team member to choose whether to participate in protected industrial action and respect the right of staff to express their voice. We encourage the AEU to return to negotiations.
We will continue to keep students, staff and other stakeholders updated regarding the protected industrial action.
