Hidden Disabilities - Shine Bright like a Sunflower program
Tuesday, 25 July 2023
The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower initiative, aimed at raising awareness and support for individuals with hidden disabilities, has resonated with staff at Wodonga TAFE. To enhance their engagement with the program and share their own perspectives, staff members were encouraged to participate in a sunflower painting activity. This creative endeavour provided a platform for staff to express their support and understanding of the initiative in a visually captivating manner.
"We were overwhelmed by the enthusiastic response of our staff members to the sunflower activity” said Paul Power, National Disability Coordination Officer. “It was heartwarming to witness the level of dedication and creativity that went into each artwork. These paintings are a beautiful reflection of our staff's genuine commitment to creating an environment that is truly inclusive and welcoming for everyone.”
Various organisations within the Border region are in support of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower program and are invited to encourage similar staff experiences within their own organisation. This includes organisations such as CVGT, Albury City, The City of Wodonga, Irish hair Salon, RDAS and Bilsons.
Wodonga TAFE held the launch of the mural this week, which included each participating members artwork placed together in three separate collages. The finished product will be on display in Building A at the Wodonga TAFE McKoy St campus.
