Fashion Design students get creative with garment embellishments
Thursday, 5 November 2020
Students in the Fashion Design program turned their creative skills to creating embellishments for garments, with a wonderful range of creations on show for all their hard work. The fine detail and work covered techniques in beading, embroidery, and lacework, with students learning how they may consider and apply their embellishment choices to their fashion pieces. Embellishments are an important part of fashion, and can add value and interest to a garment or textile. The type of embellishment is also important, as the design, weight, style and fabric need to work together to enhance the overall look. From a subtle lift to a striking statement, a well-chosen and individually pieced embellishment can give life and personality to a design, making it the unique creation of a fashion designer!
