New training centre will merge Kids on Campus childcare with Early Childhood training.
Thursday, 6 February 2020
Over the coming months, there will be some exciting new developments around the Kids on Campus facility.
Wodonga TAFE has contracted Premier Building and Construction to conduct renovations and construct extended learning spaces, classrooms, kitchen facilities and a new reception area within the building.
The goal of these building renovations is to create an integrated learning facility, which will combine the outstanding childcare services of Kids on Campus Early Learning Centre, with Wodonga TAFE’s training delivery of Certificate III and Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care.
The improved facility will enable our Teachers and Childhood Educators to continue to lead the way in the Early Childhood Education and Care industry. They will be offering the highest level of care for enrolled children in the centre, while maintaining a holistic and collaborative approach to enable and implement the latest industry teaching methods within their operational focus. The extended spaces will also provide an excellent opportunity for hosting local and regional industry networking functions, forums and professional development opportunities.
What does this mean for Kids on Campus families?
Children will benefit from this new practical learning environment by engaging with a diverse array of educators, teachers and students offering a holistic educational experience with people of various ages, cultures and backgrounds. While the students are immersed within the centre operations, under the strict supervision of their Teachers, it will increase the educator to child ratio immensely, ensuring there are many caring people looking out for the children’s wellbeing and development.
It is important to note that safety and compliance is of the upmost importance to Kids on Campus, so to ensure this at all times, students will only be involved in the operations of the centre with their Teacher’s supervision, and will all have current National Police Checks and a Working With Children Checks prior to beginning their studies with Wodonga TAFE.
How does this benefit our students?
Students of the Certificate III and Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care will benefit greatly through this initiative. By being involved in the operational environment of their chosen career, they will see and learn first-hand how a centre operates, while simultaneously obtaining their qualification. They will get hands-on practical experience months before they would in a general classroom-learning environment, with the potential for work placements and job opportunities upon completion of their studies.
Kids on Campus will be operational during the renovations, with rooms safely secured and blocked off accordingly, adhering strictly to Work Health and Safety procedures, to ensure a safe environment for everyone.
This is an exciting new time for Wodonga TAFE as we work to offer our students the very best learning environment that focuses on best practices, leading the way in childcare education and offers them a wonderful head start on their chosen careers.
Keep an eye out for photos, videos and articles that we’ll release throughout the journey.
