More Interior Design options at Wodonga TAFE
Thursday, 10 October 2019
In addition to the popular daytime course that runs Mondays to Wednesdays on campus, the Certificate IV in Interior Decoration is now offered via evening delivery at Wodonga TAFE to suit people already working in the design industry.
Course Coordinator Belinda Papas is herself a busy Design professional, and teaches the next generation of Interior Designers at Wodonga TAFE.
“We are very pleased to be able to offer this evening delivery option to suit industry professionals”, said Belinda. “This option is targeted particularly to those already working in industry and who would like to obtain an industry recognised qualification but are fully occupied during the day”,
“Whether that is someone working in their own small business or as an employee within the region’s growing housing industry, or in a business that supports or delivers design, they will be able to attend the evening classes after hours”, continued Belinda.
The part-time evening course commences in February 2020, and is just one evening on campus, 6pm-9pm, on Wednesdays during Victorian school terms. This part-time on-campus delivery mode is combined with additional online learning, all over an 18-month period.
Ideally, candidates for the evening course need to have high-level digital skills with some industry experience. Their suitability for this delivery type will be determined at an interview prior to course entry.
For the day-time course (full-time, 3 days per week on campus) there are no formal entry requirements, however it is recommended that applicants have completed Year 10 as a minimum, or that they enrol as a mature-aged student. A pre-training interview is also required prior to entry into the course.
The Certificate IV in Interior Decoration is very much an industry-relevant qualification, and focuses on the essential skills needed to build a career in this exciting growth industry. Throughout the course students work with real-life client briefs and engage directly with industry to develop their concepts into fully resolved solutions for their client.
Successful completion of this course offers students a pathway and one year’s credit into further study at Diploma level.
Employment opportunities for graduates are many, and may be as diverse as roles in interior decoration, retail, colour consultation, visual communication, or technical drawing. Previous students have also established their own small businesses, finding their niche in the dynamic design industry.
