Fashion Design student from Wodonga TAFE wins big at ‘Natural Fibre Fashion Awards’

Augusta Glasgow, a student in the Fashion Design program at Wodonga TAFE, is this year’s winner of the ‘Encouragement Award Prize – Best Garment Designed by a Student’ at the Natural Fibre Fashion Awards at the Henty Field Days.
Augusta is currently studying Certificate III in Clothing and Textile Production. Her winning creation is a 1950’s-inspired ‘walk away dress’ - a flared one-piece wrap dress which has its back wrapped around to the front for a sheath and overskirt look.
This continues the winning streak for students from Wodonga TAFE’s Fashion Design program, with the Student Award winner also coming from their entries over the past 5 years. The award-winning garment once again displays the intricate detail and fine finishing that has become a hallmark of the Fashion Design program on campus at Wodonga TAFE.
As in previous years, students from both the Certificate III in Clothing and Textile Production and the Certificate IV in Clothing Production courses submitted their original creations into the Awards. Wodonga TAFE is the only TAFE provider to offer these courses outside the metropolitan areas.
Fashion Design Teacher at Wodonga TAFE, Ms Deidre Liston, said the standard at The Natural Fibre Fashion Awards is always very competitive. “This gives our students a great challenge to work towards with their creations and the finishing of their fashion pieces”, said Ms Liston. “Having The Natural Fibre Fashion Awards here in our region also enables our students to showcase their handiwork at a national level.”
Applications are now open for the Fashion Design program at Wodonga TAFE, for the courses commencing in February 2020. Find out more and apply online via www.wodongatafe.edu.au/fashiondesign
