Wodonga TAFE Knowledge Share Event
Monday, 15 April 2019
Each year Wodonga TAFE staff are faced with the opportunity to participate in a range of professional development activities at their annual Knowledge Share event.
The theme of the day this year was Empower Yourself, made up of breakout sessions derived from Wodonga TAFE’s corporate values of Quality and Accountability, Innovation, Collaboration and Teamwork, Challenge and Future Success and Growth.
This year the sessions available to attend were conflict intelligence, growing emotional intelligence, leading teams, my future my career and maintain vocational competency. Staff were able to choose to attend three of these sessions at scheduled times throughout the day, of which were all hosted by guest speakers with specific expertise in those areas.
There was an African Drumming activity that all staff took part in and were treated to traditional tribal drumming techniques as opportunity to foster team building and collaboration skills in a fun and vibrant atmosphere. The idea behind this was the beating-to-the-same-drum concept enabling staff to mingle with colleagues they don’t always see and getting together to share their knowledge and experience as part of the entire TAFE team.
The event is fully catered and offers staff the opportunity to get beyond the office walls and their everyday norm, build on some skill sets and participate in a collaborative and future focused event.
The day concluded with a Reward and Recognition event where CEO Mark Dixon, awarded staff members who are recognised to have gone above and beyond their expected duties and are congratulated and awarded a certificate, which is followed by a light celebration of drinks and nibbles.
Wodonga TAFE is proud to be an Employer of Choice and this is one fine example of how the organisation puts their staff members first and ensures a unified and satisfactory work environment for all.
