Massage Clinic Gives Students Real Business Skills

Wednesday, 10 April 2019

Wodonga TAFE’s massage therapy and remedial massage programs are synonymous with producing the most highly skilled and reputable massage therapists in the region. With two courses offered each year, Certificate IV Massage Therapy (HLT42015) and the Diploma of Remedial Massage (HLT52015), the extensive practical training within them means students will be confident to put their skills into practice after course completion, resulting in job-ready professionals.

The diploma provides skills for competence in remedial massage practice and enables successful graduates to be self-employed as independent practitioners or to work in a larger health service. The intensive training included within the course also enables graduates to apply for provider recognition with health funds. The course covers provision of remedial massage treatment to clients with specific needs such as injury management, rehabilitation, aged care, and chronic disease management.

Qualified Remedial Massage Therapists have the opportunity to advance their skills by enrolling into the Advanced Diploma of Myotherapy, which still has mid year enrolments available for 2019.

Wodonga TAFE’s talented Remedial Massage and Massage Therapy students are given the opportunity for hands-on, practical learning throughout their studies. The facility is equipped with a student-led clinic for them to practise their skills and build their expertise, and which is available for members of the public to book in for appointments.

In addition to valuable hours of supervised massage practice, the clinic enables students to gain further proficiency in preliminary assessments of each client who presents to the clinic.

They are also involved in the clinics management and promotions which enable them to develop business management skills and to possibly aspire to one day manage their own clinic in the future.

The student-run clinic is open Tuesdays, 9.30am- 3.30pm, April to November at Wodonga TAFE, Upper Level Building B, room B113 at 87 McKoy Street campus.

You can help train the next generation of the region’s very best massage therapists by booking your massage session now. Each session is 1 hour and amazing value at only $20. All sessions are supervised by a qualified Massage Therapy Educator. To make an appointment please call 0447 233 090 and arrange a time, or leave a message and your call will be returned.
