Multi Factor Authentication (MFA)

Student Multi Factor Authentication (MFA)

Wodonga TAFE uses Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for all active student accounts.

What is MFA?

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) adds an extra layer of protection to your Wodonga TAFE account. In addition to accessing Wodonga TAFE systems with your existing account password, a second factor will also be required. This second factor may be a code sent to your mobile phone, a push notification sent to a special smartphone app, among others.

When will I need to use MFA?

When you attempt to access a Wodonga TAFE system (Moodle, for example) you may be prompted to provide a second factor of authentication. By default, this will be an SMS sent to the mobile phone number that you have previously supplied to Wodonga TAFE. When studying on campus,  connected to a Wodonga TAFE computer network, you can expect to not be prompted for MFA.

How do I prepare to use MFA?

In order to use MFA, you will need to have up-to-date security information

To ensure your security information is up-to-date at any time, you can visit this web page.
If your security information is out-of-date, you may not be able to access Wodonga TAFE systems (such as Moodle, for example).

What if I do not have my own mobile phone?

To use MFA, it is ideal that you have your own mobile phone. If you do not, there is still an option for you to use MFA. This option is only available to students who:

  • do not have their own mobile phone, or a mobile phone they can easily access when logging in to a Wodonga TAFE system.
  • need access to Wodonga TAFE systems when studying away from a Wodonga TAFE campus - at home, for example.

To apply for this option, please complete this form. A Wodonga TAFE representative will then contact you soon after to assist you.

I still need help! What now?

If you still require assistance with MFA after reading this article, please visit the ICT Help Desk in Building A of Wodonga TAFE's McKoy Street campus. Alternatively, you can call the Help Desk on 6055 6565 between the hours of 8am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.
