Are you looking for a pathway into TAFE or employment? This course will help give you the confidence to succeed.
Give yourself a jump start by increasing your confidence in completing workplace tasks, improving your written and spoken communication, and building on your reading and digital skills.
You will develop your skills in areas such as reading, writing, maths, oral communication, digital skills, and preparing for work, and learn how to apply these skills in your future education and career journey. You will also get a taste of what courses are offered at Wodonga TAFE, so you can find the course that is right for you.
Completing Certificate I in Skills for Vocational Pathways will help set you up for success in work and education.

Duration
1 term (9-10 weeks)
Schedule
The course will be run over 10 weeks, 3 days per week (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays). Each day will focus on a different stream. Students may enrol in the whole course, or just the stream they are interested in. Certificate I in Skills for Vocational Pathways will cover numeracy, reading and communication, and workplace skills. The course will be hands-on and involve visits to trade areas of interest to students.
Numeracy (Tuesday)
- FSKNUM008 Use whole numbers and simple fractions, decimals and percentages for work
- FSKNUM012 Use familiar and simple data for work
- FSKNUM009 Use familiar and simple metric measurements for work
Reading and Communication (Wednesday)
- FSKDIG002 Use digital technology for routine and simple workplace tasks
- FSKRDG006 Read and respond to simple informal workplace texts
- FSKWTG006 Write simple workplace information
- FSKOCM003 Participate in familiar spoken interactions at work
Workplace Skills (Thursday)
- FSKLRG008 Use simple strategies for work-related learning
- FSKLRG005 Use strategies to plan simple workplace tasks
- BSBPEF201 Support personal wellbeing in the workplace
- BSBPEF101 Plan and prepare for work readiness.
Assessment
The assessments will enable students to demonstrate the underpinning knowledge, skills and attributes required to meet the course outcomes. A range of assessment strategies to meet different students’ needs will be selected. These may include questioning, observation, and practical demonstration.
