Step 1 - Before you apply
Review the role and position description to determine if the role is right for you. If you’d like to know more, each advertisement will have the direct contact details for the relevant hiring Manager.
You should also review the requirements for the job application - most jobs will require a cover letter and a current resume, however others will also require you to address targeted questions or key selection criteria for your application to be considered. If required, take time to read through the questions or criteria to ensure that you can provide examples of your relevant experience and expertise.

Step 2 - Applications and assessment stage
Your application will be assessed and considered by the interview panel,, identifying if you are a suitable candidate for the requirements of the role. At this point, Wodonga TAFE will reach out to you to discuss further and progress through to an online or in-person interview.
If the panel determines that you aren’t right for this current opportunity, you will be advised by the People and Development team.
Step 3 - Interview
Wodonga TAFE will contact you in approximately five working days after applications have closed for the position. We will negotiate a suitable time and date with you for the interview, and also let you know of any further information and materials you may need to bring.
The interview panel will consist of key stakeholders from Wodonga TAFE, and will be in attendance for the interview.
In some instances you may be asked to participate in a secondary interview – you will be advised if this is required.
For some roles you may also be asked to undertake additional assessments following your interview. These may include online testing, psychometric tests, or providing work samples such as portfolios and case studies.
Step 4 - Screening checks & medical assessments (if required)
If required for the role, the following screening checks may be conducted:
- National Police Check
- Education qualification checks
- Citizenship or residency status
- Working With Children Check (WWCC)
- Defence Security Check
- Residential and employment history (5 years)
Medical assessments may be required, depending on the role you apply for. This will be confirmed with you during the process.
Step 5 - Reference checks
Each candidate is required to provide two referees that you directly reported to in previous roles. These reference checks will be conducted by our partner Xref, prior to offering you employment.
Step 6 - Offer, contract issue and agreement
Upon successful appointment to the position, you will receive a formal proposal offering you the position. Verbal acceptance to the offer will result in receiving a contract for you to review. Please reach out to People & Development should you have any queries about your contract.
Please ensure you initial and sign the required sections within the contract. Please return this to your People & Development contact by the date specified in the contract.
Step 7 - Welcome to Wodonga TAFE
You'll be guided by your new Manager and the People & Development team for details regarding your first day and induction.
