Careers - FAQs

Check out below some of the more common questions we are asked about joining the Wodonga TAFE team.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

I don’t have a qualification but I have industry experience. Can I still apply for a Teaching role?

Yes you can, in fact we encourage you to. We will support you in obtaining a qualification to set you up to succeed in your role.

How long does the recruitment process normally take and what does it involve?

We generally process applications within a couple of days of the closing date and if you are successful we will be in contact with you for an initial interview. From there we may require you for a second interview. We will then speak to your referees before we would make verbal offer. The entire process may take up to a month. It is important to us that candidates not only have the qualifications and experience but are also a good fit with our team and Wodonga TAFE’s values, therefore our process is thorough.

If you are unsuccessful we will usually let you know within a month.

If I am unsuccessful for a role can I apply for another role?

Yes, we would encourage you to do so. Wodonga TAFE is a progressive workplace and consequently, our roles are constantly evolving. Your experience will change over time as well. We advertise all our roles on our website so keep checking in to see if there is a role that suits you. If you’re not sure about the role or your ‘fit’, give our People and Development team a call on 1300 698 233 to discuss.

How can I register my interest for upcoming roles and opportunities?

What do I need to bring to an Interview?

Just yourself, however, if you are successful at the interview we will need to see evidence of your current qualifications and evidence that you are an Australian citizen or have the appropriate VISA to work in Australia.

Where are People and Development located?

We are located in Building Z at 87 McKoy Street West Wodonga, which is next to the bus shelter. To see our campus map click here.

Who conducts the interview?

Workforce Capability Framework

The Workforce Capability Framework brings into focus the behaviours and attitudes that support our values and behaviours identified in the Strategic Plan that will strengthen our desired organisational culture through transparent capabilities, level descriptors as well as behavioural indicators.

The Workforce Capability Framework is divided into 5 Core capability groups that organises 19 capabilities into related capabilities under a single heading. These capabilities apply to all staff. There is also a capability group for Leadership that applies to our people managers or to staff who have a level of leadership within their role but do not manage people.

You can view our Workforce Capability Framework document here.
