Online Service Standards
Wodonga TAFE is committed to providing a quality online learning experience. Our primary online learning tool is called Moodle which will provide a variety of experiences that can range from a place to access your learning resources to a fully interactive training and assessment environment depending on the course requirements. For many of the courses that Wodonga TAFE offer the delivery will involve a blend of online content and face to face delivery, however the following standard outlines what you as a Wodonga TAFE student can expect when engaging with our online learning and/or assessment activities.
Student support
Teachers
Once you have logged in to your online Moodle course you are provided with the most appropriate contact details for your trainer/assessor. Trainers and assessors can be contacted during business hours 9 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday (except public holidays) by email for the duration of the course/module. As teachers may be in class or work part-time, they will acknowledge/respond to your enquiries with 3 business days.
Administrative & IT Support
For technical and administrative and IT support with Moodle, you should contact Wodonga TAFE's Helpdesk on 02 6055 6565 between 9 am and 5pm Monday to Friday (except public holidays).
Support Services
Students studying online have access to Wodonga TAFE’s Support Services during business hours Monday to Friday (except public holidays). These student services can be viewed on this website via www.wodongatafe.edu.au/services/support-services.
Library Services
The library on campus is available to online students where you can access the TAFE subscribed e- resources (including articles, eBooks, standards, streaming video, etc.) from the Library homepage. The library service desk is also available for face to face assistance during business hours Monday to Friday.
Entry Requirements and Induction
Wodonga TAFE conducts a Pre-Training Review for all prospective students to determine whether a course is suitable and appropriate for their individual needs. This includes a series of questions to further understand your digital literacy and identify any additional support required.
Once you have been admitted to your course you will receive your login details via email which will also include some information about Moodle such as how to log into your Moodle account. If you are having issues logging on to your account, you should contact Wodonga TAFE's Helpdesk on 02 6055 6565 between 9 am and 5pm Monday to Friday (except public holidays).
The Moodle homepage has support information about accessing and navigating your way around the learning platform including how to use Moodle including logging in and changing/ re-setting your password.
When using Moodle for optimal access you will need these minimum information technology requirements:
- A desktop or laptop computer (with minimum 8BG memory and 1.8Ghz processor) however course materials can be accessed with mobile devices.
- Microsoft Office 2003 or later
- A reliable internet connection with the latest version of Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, or Safari (free computer and Wi-Fi access is available at a Wodonga TAFE campus)
Web based content is available on handheld devices including mobile phones and tablets.
Note: The Moodle app is currently not supported, and we recommend using the browser on your mobile device. The Moodle theme scales to the size of your screen.
Learning Materials
Learning materials used in online training are interactive and come in a variety of formats including:
- Guided content
- Graphics
- Video
- Audio
- Interaction through discussion forums and webinars
We apply the principles of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1) accessibility guidelines to our learning materials making them perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust.
Student Engagement
Engaging and collaborative learning opportunities are provided in a variety of ways which may include discussion forums, webinars or a blend of face to face and online interactions.
We will provide ongoing feedback through:
- informal discussion forums
- in response to individual enquiries and in relation to the tasks you complete.
We will contact you if you have not logged on within 2 weeks of the program commencement date.
You will be deemed to be withdrawn from the program if you:
- have not logged on within 4 weeks of the program commencement date; and
- after making 3 attempts to contact you and you do not reengage with us.
Mode of Methods and Assessment
We will use different forms of assessment for each subject depending on the unit requirements including:
- knowledge questions
- quiz
- projects/ portfolios
- case studies
- demonstration of practical skills
We may use video technology including Zoom or mobile phone recording to assess practical skills.
Assessment tasks will be marked, and feedback provided to you within 15 business days from completion of assessments. If your assessment is unable to be marked within 15 business days your teacher will contact you to confirm when the assessment feedback will be provided to you.
Trainers and assessors of online learning
Wodonga TAFE is committed to ensuring trainers and assessors of online learning have the required skills to deliver an engaging learning experience. All Wodonga TAFE teaching staff complete annual professional development in online/blended learning as part of their compulsory teacher professional development plan.
