Koorie Education Unit

The Koorie Education Unit (KEU) located on the ground floor of building W is a culturally safe space set up to support Koorie students on their educational journey at Wodonga TAFE. Here you will find our dedicated team waiting to guide you on your way to a successful completion of your studies.

We have an open door policy at the KEU, come and have a yarn.

Koorie Liaison Officer

The Koorie Liaison Officer (KLO) provides strong leadership and support to team members within the Koorie Education Unit. The KLO establishes effective and positive relationships between Wodonga TAFE and First nations students, local community groups, service providers and other education partners. The KLO identifies opportunities to actively promotes and supports the development and implementation of TAFE’s Reconciliation Action Plan and other engagement strategies and matters involving cultural knowledge and awareness.

Koorie Student Support Officer

The Koorie Student Support Officer (KSSO) is your point of contact for all First Nations students here at Wodonga TAFE. The KSSO provides culturally appropriate in class support, as well as one-to-one out of class support to Koorie students who indicate a need for academic support or who may have a disability, medical or mental health condition and / or learning disabilities.

The KSSO is responsible for:

  • Support with the enrolment processes.
  • Information about financial support and scholarships.
  • Choosing the right course to help you work towards your career choice.
  • Referrals, both internal and to external support agencies.
  • Food and essential needs information.
  • personal support.

Koorie support is available Monday - Friday from 9am to 5pm and can be found by visiting Building W in the Koorie Office.

First Nations Scholarship

Scholarships are available to First Nations students*. Scholarships are to support any additional fees the students might need for learning materials or uniform for accredited training courses. If successful, you will receive up to 50% of the cost to a total of $750 per student per course. Applications are ongoing and always open.
